Risk Assessment Corporation (RAC)

RAC was formed in 1977 by John Till, Ph.D. to analyze dose and risks from radioactive materials when they are released to the environment. At the time RAC was formed and still today, this science involves skills from many different disciplines. The model RAC used was to acquire assistance from talented individuals across the country who were knowledgeable, motivated, and willing to work in an independent environment. This model still exists today. During its existence, RAC has performed radiological risk analysis for many different companies including private industry and government agencies always with the same high quality, research, innovation, and thoroughness implemented at its beginning. These characteristics have earned RAC an unmatched reputation over the years. The fundamental technical methods for their approach to risk assessment were published in 1983 by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission as “Radiological Assessment A Textbook on Environmental Dose Analysis” and updated by Oxford University Press in 2008 as “Radiological Risk Assessment and Environmental Analysis.” Since its beginning RAC has published hundreds of articles and reports documenting their work. In addition, individual team members have carved out their own reputations by serving with many scientific committees and professional organizations worldwide.
