John Till presented an opening address as the G. William Morgan Lecturer at the Health Physics Society’s 66th Annual Meeting in July 2021. His presentation, “Fifty Years of Risk Assessment: 1970–2021,” reviewed the history of radiological risk assessment from its formative years to the present and noted the significant advances in the science over the past five decades.

At the Health Physics Society Awards luncheon, John received the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award for his contributions to the society and to the science of risk assessment. Although he was the 2020 award recipient, presentation of the award was delayed until the 2021 meeting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In his remarks, John focused on the optimistic future of the Health Physics Society and the profession of health physics.
